Record success for Owls Education Programme

28th September 2016

The Sheffield Wednesday Education Programme has secured a record number of students studying on their BTEC sports programmes after last year's achievements of outstanding results and students progressing on to scholarships in America.

This year the programme has doubled its student population and in line with the high intake, the Education Programme has appointed new teaching staff to deliver the tuition and share their expertise with the students. Education tutors, Ricky Hunt, Jess Stanley, Steph Morris, Matt Rimmer and new to the team Ed Kinsey and Rachel Stewart, offer a wealth of experience and knowledge in the sports education field and are in place to ensure the programme builds on its successes year on year. The programme offers courses including BTEC Sport in level one, two and three (extended diploma), a Foundation Degree in sports coaching and a BTEC 11-a-side scholarship programme with links to scholarship progression in America. The programme has now moved into the club's new on-site Education Centre (next to the club's Megastore) and offers state of the art learning facilities, offices for tutors and an impressive break out area for students. Spencer Taylor, CSR Manager of the Community Programme, said: -After last year's success we are very excited to welcome this year's students and hope that we can maintain our impressive results. -Our new additions to the tutor group will only strengthen the quality of learning which will in term be reflected in our results. The Education Programme are now recruiting for September 2017 higher education courses. Current year 11 pupils can find out more by contacting education@swfc.co.uk or 0114 3240 780.
