Reserve Forces and Cadets Association

14th March 2018

The Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association for Yorkshire and The Humber (RFCA) is part of a network of 13 organisations which promote and support Reserve Forces and Cadets across the UK by harnessing the extensive knowledge and experience of its membership.

RFCAs works hard to build relationships and increase understanding between military and civilian communities. The RFCA for Yorkshire and The Humber has a wide remit and its day-to-day responsibilities range from providing support to reservists' employers, managing and maintaining reserve and cadet facilities in the region, recruiting Cadet Force adult instructors and liaising with local communities, MPs and local authorities among others, to foster positive and productive relationships. The RFCA also works hard, through its Employer Engagement function, to promote the Reserve Forces of all three services and provide support to those organisations which employ reservists. The Armed Forces rely increasingly on the volunteer Reserve Forces, and those who join should expect to be mobilised at least once in their military career. All members of the Reserve Forces undergo rigorous training which develops valuable skills such as leadership, teamwork, effective communication and organisational ability. This can lead to improved performance in the workplace, with transferable attributes that include the ability to work under pressure, reliability, self-confidence and a determination to succeed. There are over 760 'supportive employers' across Yorkshire and The Humber who employ reservists. Those companies that have registered, have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and are now recognised and rewarded as part of the Government's Employer Recognition Scheme.
