Responding to the Philippines education crisis, Twinkl has given free access to home learning packs

7th October 2021

In response to the news of another year of home learning in the Philippines, Sheffield based educational publisher Twinkl has created free learning packs to support parents and teachers delivering remote lessons.

Sheffield based educational publisher Twinkl has responded to the education crisis in the Philippines with a learning pack designed to support parents and teachers with delivering remote lessons following the news that schooling will remain online for yet another year in the country.

In the past year, Twinkl has reached out to over 250 countries and regions to provide support and free resources during periods of school disruption. In an effort to reduce the disruption to education before it becomes a real concern, the team at Twinkl are proactive in their approach to arranging home-schooling provisions. For example, in Afghanistan and Lebanon, where education has been significantly disrupted for children, Twinkl has worked with local teams to roll-out the free resource packs to ensure high-quality learning materials can be easily accessed.

Another example of how Twinkl has supported access to education in tough times is the recent scheme launched in Andalucia to provide free access to the library of over 778,000 resources. Wildfires coursed through the region in recent weeks, with many school buildings in their path being destroyed. After hearing of the devastating effects, Twinkl continued their mission to support teachers, parents and young people with free access to resources to ensure there was no further disruption to their schooling.

The demands of teachers have changed and will continue to change in the coming years, which is why Twinkl is incredibly passionate about sticking to their mission of helping teachers, teach, and responding to customer feedback and changing environments. Understanding that accessibility is also an issue, Twinkl is working with organisations in the Philippines to distribute the packs and ensure there are provisions for internet access and digital skills.

Twinkl is uniquely placed as a resource provider, with all materials being created by teachers themselves. The insight from teachers across the globe means that parents and educators can be rest assured that the learning packs have been produced by creators that are trusted by experts such as the UN, WWF and Save the Children.

Twinkl founder and CEO, Jonathan Seaton, is incredibly proud of the work his team has done over the past year, saying:
“It is embedded in our culture at Twinkl to always be on the look out for new ways we can support our customers and listen to feedback. After hearing of the situation in the Philippines where schools are expected to teach remotely for another year, we made it a priority to support parents and educators with high-quality teaching materials to make home-learning easier and more enjoyable.

We are so pleased to hear of the impact that our provisions for free learning materials have had in other regions such as Afghanistan and Lebanon, and so it is important for us to respond to this need in countries that are facing yet another year of remote learning. The help we are offering to the Philippines would not be possible without the support of our members and our thoughts are with parents, educators and young people in the Philippines at this time. We hope through providing free resources, we can ensure that everyone has access to high-quality materials.”

Twinkl’s resources are used across the globe as a trusted provider of high-quality educational resources. With teachers at every level in the organisation, creating and checking resources, all feedback from educators across the globe is welcomed and implemented daily to ensure teachers receive the best support.
