Retail and property non-execs sought by Sheffield charity

We help over 4000 local older people every year, offering activities, events, befriending and information. It's a great place to work if you really want to make a difference in people's lives. Recruitment of Trustees and Non-Executive Directors We are embarking on an exciting new period, developing new income streams to support our work with the most vulnerable older people in our city. Therefore, we are looking to bring a wide range of new skills onto our charity board, and the board of our trading arm, Age UK Sheffield Enterprises. Non-Executive Directors of Age UK Sheffield Enterprises (two voluntary roles, including a Chair) Could you help to bring our exciting proposed Heritage Lottery Funded project in Hillsborough Park to fruition, maximising revenue streams from a community café and older people's activity centre? Or do you have property or retail expertise which could help us to open our first charity shops? We are changing the structure of our trading arm's board to bring in independent, specialist knowledge. The aim is to significantly broaden our income generation sources to maximise the funding to be gift aided to our charity. There are two roles available and we are looking for enthusiastic and active directors, particularly with backgrounds in any of the following areas: Property development Facilities management Retail management Contract tendering One of the appointed directors will become Chair of our trading arm. Up to three Trustees of Age UK Sheffield, including a Treasurer (voluntary roles) There are 24,000 people aged 65 or over living in poverty in Sheffield. And 12,000 lonely and isolated older people in the city. We have developed a new, three-year strategy to transform our ability to serve these vulnerable older people, and are now looking for additional Trustees to strengthen our Board. We are recruiting up to three new Trustees to join our seven existing Board members. One of these new Trustees will become our Treasurer and is likely to have an accounting background.
