Retrospective Scheme now live

The Council has opened applications for its retrospective financial support scheme, which offers residents and businesses who have already upgraded their vehicle to meet CAZ standards, the opportunity to apply for a grant, to contribute towards the costs they incurred.

The retrospective scheme will be open for a period of eight weeks and will close on Thursday 29 June at 11.59pm.

To be eligible, the vehicle must have been upgraded after October 26th, 2021, when the elected members decision to implement a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) was confirmed, and before the launch of the retrospective scheme.

Full details of the eligibility criteria and application process for the retrospective scheme can be viewed on the Clean Air Zone website. https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/your-city-council/applying-grant-cleaner-vehicle-youve-already-bought

To note, the Clean Air Zone team is currently operating with very limited capacity, as such, applicants may experience slight delays during the application process. We thank you for your patience at this time as we work to turn around applications as quickly as possible for current and upcoming funding schemes.

Vehicle owners of older non-compliant vehicles, based in Sheffield and Rotherham, can still apply for financial support to upgrade or replace a vehicle to meet CAZ standards.

Applications for vehicles that have been upgraded after the launch of the retrospective scheme will not be considered, however vehicle owners based in Sheffield or Rotherham that are looking to upgrade or replace their non-complaint vehicles to meet CAZ standards can still apply for financial support. Visit the website for more information.

Please note, the local exemptions that delayed charging for Light Goods Vehicles (LGV) and Hackney Carriage Taxi vehicles until June 2023 are ending soon. From Monday 5th June, charges will apply to enter the CAZ unless the vehicle is compliant or has an alternative exemption, e.g. has a compliant vehicle on order and is waiting delivery.
