Returning HorrorCon set to make blood run cold in Rotherham

A blood chilling horror convention will feature a host of star-studded names from the horror genre when it returns to Magna in Rotherham next month.

HorrorCon UK 2016 will take place over two days at the visitor attraction in July, bringing together all fans of horror in literature, TV and film. The event, which attracted more than 2,500 people in 2015, will feature Q&A talks from Kane Hodder who played Jason Vorhees of the Friday the 13th film series; Doug Bradley, who played Pinhead in the Hellraiser film franchise; and David Naughton from An American Werewolf in London. Visitors to the event will also have the chance to meet Emily Booth, actor and presenter of the Horror Channel; authors Graham Masterton and Shaun Huston; and world-renowned violent haunting expert Jason Love. There will also be a chance to see specialist indie film screenings, and special effect make-up demos from professionals including Mike Peel - who has worked on British horror favourite The Descent and the James Bond and Harry Potter films. Other attractions include live music from local zombie band Iron Sphincter and a horror market selling everything from films, books, original art, through to horror teddies, posters, masks and film props. Organiser Wendy Bell of Sheffield, who set up HorrorCon UK with sister Gill Bell, said: "We're able to attract such a wide variety of industry stars, from actors to special effect make-up artists, and it's great to bring all these names together into one atmospheric space for everyone to enjoy. -Last year, many visitors dressed as their favourite horror characters, so this year we're running 'scareplay' competitions for those brave enough to enter. HorrorCon UK 2016 will take place over two days on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th of July. Tickets are priced at £36 for the entire weekend or £19.95 for either day. There is an opportunity to book photo opportunities with celebrities and there will also be facilitated Q&As with star guests. Early access tickets are available, allowing entrance to HorrorCon UK at Magna an hour before standard entry tickets.
