Revive @SheffieldMind - helping local businesses to thrive
17th September 2024
1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem each year and it’s the 5th most common reason given for sickness absence at work.
Supporting employees with mental health issues is essential to effective staff management but finding the right solution for your company can be time-consuming – and costly, if you get it wrong.
After talking to lots of local employers about what they need and when they need it, Sheffield Mind has developed an exciting new initiative, to help local employers struggling with employee wellbeing issues.
Sheffield Mind’s ‘Revive’ Employee Assistance Programme is flexible, responsive and bespoke to individual need.
Employees have told Sheffield Mind that they appreciate the support provided by employers, but mental health apps and telephone support can feel impersonal and remote. Sheffield Mind Revive services can be tailored to suit the needs and preferences of the individual, with sessions delivered in-person at the Wellbeing Centre (situated just a 20-minute walk or a 5-minutes car drive from the city centre) or via a secure video platform such as zoom or teams. In addition to talking therapy, Sheffield Mind can provide employees with creative and walking therapy, as alternatives.
Sheffield Mind staff will work with local employers to provide bespoke packages, tailored to the size and support needs of different business sectors. A team of experienced Counsellors can support employees to identify the source and causes of stress, depression or anxiety - anything that’s impacting on their working life - and work with them to develop coping strategies that will allow them to return to work - and to thrive.
In addition, Revive is also being used as a ‘prevention service’ to stop issues developing to the extent that they impact on an employee’s ability to work effectively. People in positions of senior leadership - who can be isolated by their position and lacking in peer support - are finding this offer particularly helpful. Having the opportunity to talk about issues, sound out different options and express any concerns or worries, can be a first step to identifying sources of conflict, potential problems and any stressful aspects of their role. Having someone who can provide an objective opinion or someone who can challenge a decision can help managers explore the professional and personal implications of business decisions.
Sheffield Mind has an excellent track record of working with local employers, to provide therapeutic support to staff in local businesses, small and large.
