Rum Collection is Another First for Sheffield
29th July 2016
Not satisfied by being named the world's real ale capital - Sheffield is now claiming the title as a regional centre for rum! Leopold Square's Cubana has unveiled the largest collection of the spirit anywhere outside of London.
The popular venue is now offering a staggering 164 varieties! Its first dedicated rum menu is the result of months of research by Cubana assistant manager John Wickham - a man with a total passion for rum. The extensive collection has been sourced from right around the globe - from Cuba and Jamaica to more surprising places such as Cambridge and Japan. The full menu can be viewed here: http://cubanatapasbar.co.uk/pdf/cubana-rum-menu.pdf Cubana owners Adrian Bagnoli and Brad Charlsworth - went to extraordinary lengths to ensure they offered what's thought to be the most comprehensive rum menu outside of the capital. They flew all the way to Havana in Cuba to source one of the most expensive bottles in the world! Single 25ml shots of 'Maximo Extra Anejo' are now on sale at Cubana for a jaw-dropping £150. Considered by many to be the finest rum ever made, the ultra-premium drink even comes in a handmade crystal decanter. The list includes many obscure, delicious and affordable expressions of rum with majority priced under £10. Adrian said: "This menu is the culmination of several months' work and we couldn't have found someone more passionate than John to help us put it together. There's now only one other venue in the whole of the country with more rums' than us, it's in London and it belongs to a private collector." "But the menu is just the start as start to offer evenings that pair food with specific rum varieties." The city was named the world's real ale capital earlier this year following a report commissioned by the University of Sheffield. Cubana Tapas Bar is situated at Unit 4 Leopold Square, Sheffield S1 2JG. Bookings can be made on 0114 276 0475. More info from www.cubanatapasbar.co.uk
