Run in the Park for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity
29th April 2015
The dedicated charity for the regions specialist cancer hospital is encouraging fitness fanatics and jolly joggers alike to find the 'fun in a run' by taking on their annual park run.
Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity is hoping that people from across the region will once again turn out in their hundreds to take on either the 3k fun run or 10k race on Sunday the 12th July to help raise vital funds for Weston Park Hospital. Run in the Park, which last year saw over 1000 runners complete the challenge through local beauty spot, Graves Park, will return again this year with the hope of encouraging more participants to don fancy dress and embrace the fun factor. Entries are now open for both the 3k and 10k runs and this year the charity is hoping that more families will join them for a fun day out and step out together to help raise much needed sponsorship for the charity. The popular day, sponsored by Autoworld and Irwin Mitchell, welcomes families, friends and colleagues to don their running vests in support of the cancer charity and is well attended by both hospital staff and patients alike. Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity is the only dedicated charity for the hospital and exists to support the world-class cancer research and to improve the treatment and care for people living with cancer. Throughout 2015 the charity will fund various projects to enable the continued improvement of Weston Park Hospital; including the expansion of research studies, improving the way cancer treatments are delivered and supporting the ongoing care provisions of patients and their families affected by cancer. The cancer charity needs to raise over £1.8 million this year to enable the funding of committed and new projects that will keep Weston Park Hospital at the forefront of cancer treatment. Community Fundraiser, Lucy King said: -We're delighted to be holding our annual Run in the Park once again and invite supporters from across the region to join us for this fun-filled day. -The 3k run is open to participants of all ages and abilities and welcomes those who want to stride out amongst family and friends whilst raising vital funds for the cancer charity.
