Santa swaps his sleigh for a Segway

Santa will be swapping his sleigh for a Segway this year to kick-start Christmas at Magna Science Adventure Centre.

Santa will be performing his stunt inside Magna on Tuesday 24 November in time for the Christmas Family Fayre at the venue the following weekend. Donna Shaw, marketing and sales co-ordinator at Magna, said: -We all know that Father Christmas usually travels on a sleigh, but our Santa is getting a bit more up to date this year and is using the latest green method of personal transport. The Segway is being provided by Big Bang, who organise Segway experiences at Magna, as well as rides on a zip wire and bungee jumps. Once Santa has arrived he will set up his grotto for the annual Christmas Family Fayre on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November. The fayre, which will be open from 10am to 4pm on both days, will feature craft and gift stalls, pop-up science workshops, and seasonal food and drink. The Christmas Fayre is free to under-16s and £2.50 for accompanying adults. Entry also includes free entry to Magna Adventure Centre and the outdoor Sci-Tek play area, with a children's Christmas trail, guided steel tours and forge demonstrations. A visit to the grotto to meet Santa costs £4.95 per child and includes a gift. Donna said: -The weekend will be great for kids and adults alike, with a range of activities which will be fun for all the family. We hope to make this year's Christmas Fayre the best one yet as we get into the spirit of the festive season here at Magna. Magna is also gearing itself up for the annual Eat, Bump, Groove Christmas parties, with more than 6,000 people signed up for the parties, which start on Friday December 4. The party nights, which will run over eight nights in December, are popular as works' Christmas outings, with about 55,000 people attending over the last ten years.
