Savills Barbers opens in Heart of the City

16th May 2024

Savills Barbers, Sheffield’s celebrated men’s grooming brand, opened its industry-leading barber shop on Pinstone Street in the city centre this week.

It is the latest opening in Heart of the City – the flagship city centre development scheme led by Sheffield City Council and its Strategic Development Partner, Queensberry, and follows the launch of Fjällräven and Yards Store earlier this year.

Savills Barbers is a multi-award-winning barber brand in Sheffield and this significantly bigger venue is set to become its new flagship store, following relocation from Devonshire Street. It will remain the twin outlet in the Savills Barbers group, alongside the Bricky Row Barbershop in Totley, Sheffield.

This new high-class barbers, now rehomed in one of the boutique-style ground and first floor units in Laycock House, makes the most of the unit’s Victorian characteristics, with the striking fit-out balancing traditional barber shop aesthetics and an up-to-date modern twist.

The barbers will also boast a sector leading training academy, which will open on 24 June and offer apprenticeships, NVQ Qualifications and Advanced Skills training.

Joth Davies of Savills Barbers comments:

“We are excited to finally move into Heart of the City. It’s long been a goal of ours to be part of this exciting development and witnessing the transformation of the city centre has confirmed to us that this is the right move for Savills.

“We have some fantastic new neighbours, and this is only going to improve with the launch of the Cambridge Street Collective food hall, Leah’s Yard, Radisson Blu and more.

“It’s great that we can offer our current loyal patrons a brilliant new space, as well as new services. We hope to welcome a whole new cohort of customers too. Being able to open our state-of-the-art training academy will also enable us to support other businesses with staff learning and development via a robust apprenticeship programme and other training opportunities. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Savills.”

Cllr Ben Miskell, Chair of the Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee at Sheffield City Council, added:

“It’s fantastic Savills has been able to move into Heart of the City, signalling another exciting brand opening its doors. The new barber shop is incredibly stylish and perfectly complements the high-quality retail and food & drink venues that we are attracting to the area.

“Savills’ state-of-the-art academy is a brilliant addition and will enable them to develop and train the next generation of barbers.

“This is a truly exciting time for the city centre and Heart of the City in particular, with Cambridge Street Collective – Europe’s largest purpose-built food hall – and the Radisson Blu hotel all opening very soon.”

Alex Hyams, Senior Asset & Leasing Manager at Queensberry, added:

“We're delighted to see Savills open its doors to customers. They are an industry leader in barbering and their stylish fit out reflects their quality. They join the growing mix of premium occupiers in Heart of the City, which is quickly coming to life at street level. We have an exciting pipeline of lettings and we’re looking forward to welcoming more retail and food & drink brands to the scheme throughout 2024.”
