Seminars to help avoid pension penalties

23rd April 2014

With a number of employers already under investigation for failing to comply with the Government's compulsory auto enrolment pension scheme, two free seminars to help local businesses get to grips with it are to be held in South Yorkshire.

Organised by Sheffield-based chartered accountants and specialist business advisers Hawsons in conjunction with solicitors hlw Keeble Hawson, the breakfast seminars will look at all aspects of the scheme and what action employers need to take if they are to avoid penalties. Nigel Smith, Director of Hawsons Wealth Management Ltd., said: -Penalties can be up to £10,000 per day for non-compliance which, in itself, is frightening. There is the point too that many existing pension schemes are not compatible, or compliant, with the new regulations so employers need to be up to speed with what conforms and what doesn't. Representatives from Hawsons Wealth Management Ltd, and hlw Keeble Hawson will speak at the seminars, to be held at the Mount Pleasant Hotel, Great North Road, Doncaster, on Thursday, May 1, and the Copthorne Hotel, Bramall Lane, Sheffield, on Thursday, May 8. Registration and refreshments is at 7.30am followed by presentations at 8am. The presentations close at 9am followed by questions and networking. For more details, and to register, contact Mel Chittenden at Hawsons (tel: 0114 266 7141) or e-mail: mac@hawsons.co.uk
