Sheffield Chamber Celebrates International Men's Day
19th November 2022
Meet the men we are celebrating with, this International Men's Day
Meet Anthony, Tim, Richard and Adam. We asked three questions about what led them to their current positions, who inspires them and what advice they would give to their younger selves!
Anthony Olaseinde - Director of Stay Safe Security Ltd, Co-Director of Limitless Homes and Support, CEO of Always an Alternative
What led you to your current position?
I have a few positions, director of Stay Safe Security Ltd (safeguarding specialists), co-Director of Limitless Homes and Support (16+ Semi-independent children's home) and CEO of Always an Alternative (non-profit created to challenge the mindset of young people around negative choices). All positions allow me to help people make positive choices and change, to become the best versions of themselves.
Who inspires you and why?
The people that struggle to get out of bed, that are going through tough times, but power through those tough times. An inch for some is a Mile to others.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don't let others tell you what you're going to become. Be who you want to be, do what you want to do and you'll absolutely smash whatever you put your mind to.

Tim Elgar - Senior Consultant at Gradconsult
What led you to your current position?
I have always been someone who is passionate about and sought out opportunities to help others. People fascinate me and seeing them learn and develop is a clear goal of mine. I like variety and diversity. So why not take my experience and support different organisations from all sectors and sizes in developing their people.
Who inspires you and why?
I am particularly inspired by people who demonstrate resilience. Particularly those who have have experienced and come through adversity in their lived experience. One of my favourite examples is Dom, a young man who I have the privilege to have as part of my family. What a resilient young man he is - feel free to ask me about his story!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Life is too short to worry what other people think - take ownership over the things in your control, let go of what isn't.

Richard Stubbs, Chief Executive Officer at Yorkshire and Humber Academic Health Science Network
What led you to your current position?
I lead a health innovation function for the NHS, I've always been keen to look upstream to solve problems and this is a role that allows me to do that, whilst at the same time supporting regional economic growth.
Who inspires you and why?
I am hugely inspired by my 16-year-old daughter. Seeing the world through the eyes of her generation is humbling and helps me to identify the challenges that we need to prioritise as a society.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Try and be more comfortable living with the inevitable ups and downs of life. They are never quite as disruptive as they seem at the time.

Adam Murray, Owner and CEO at Urbana
What led you to your current position?
I always loved cities! I wanted to be involved in the built environment and have an impact on places developing into better versions of themselves. Owning a business was also a dream of mine, as you get to do these things with the values that you hold close to you. I couldn’t be happier!
Who inspires you and why?
I’m inspired by many inside and outside of our industry. Particularly those who have achieved so much from nothing. Those who have strived to be better, no matter their history, upbringing or circumstance. The ones that are closer to me know who they are, and provide me with inspiration every day.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
If it’s tough, it means you’re growing – embrace it.
