Sheffield Chamber comments on Network Rail backing HS2

“A letter sent by Network Rail to the Department for Transport (DfT) makes it very clear that HS2 is needed to deliver the capacity improvements desperately needed on our rail network.

“Sheffield Chamber and the wider business community have long argued that HS2 is critical for improving capacity and that this cannot be achieved on our existing network without severe disruption. It appears that Network Rail agrees with us, as outlined in the article below which has not yet been widely reported. Whilst we must always keep tight control of costs, not enough has been made of the cost of not doing the project.”
