Sheffield Chamber of Commerce Charity of the year to receive royal recognition of excellence
28th February 2019
Once again, Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care (SCCCC) has been given a royal seal of approval.
After receiving the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2017 the charity was put forward to be assessed for the Duke of York's Community Initiative, a royal award presented to community projects based in Yorkshire and led by the people they serve. The charity was visited by two assessors from The Duke of York's Community Initiative who assessed not only on the good work it does in its community but also on how well it is managed. They interviewed; staff, trustees, volunteers and service users. They looked for evidence of community benefit, diversity, inclusiveness, collaboration, participation, team-work and strong leadership. The scheme was found to show real value to the community, was well run and an inspiration to others. Benefits of receiving the award includes; royal recognition of excellence, the use of the royal logo which enhances fund raising credibility, promotion of organisational pride, business management support through workshops, mentoring and networking and access to an in-house funding stream. Mark Storey, CEO at SCCCC said; "We are delighted to have received royal recognition for the incredible work our volunteers, staff and trustees do to support our local communities. To be part of the initiative means that we are recognised as an inspiration to others, which for us, being such a small charity, is high praise indeed". A number of guests will be invited along to receive the award from HRH The Duke of York on 3rd April 2019.
