Sheffield City Region Quarterly Survey Q1

24th April 2014

Every quarter the 53 Chambers of Commerce in the UK participate in the Quarterly Economic Survey (QES).

The QES is the UK's biggest business survey, overall 6,500 business leaders respond to the survey each quarter. The QES is the first economic indicator of the quarter, published in advance of official figures and other private surveys, and it consistently mirrors trends in official data. For this reason the survey is closely watched by policy makers such as the Treasury, the Bank of England, the Office of Budget Responsibility, the EU Commission and the International Monetary Fund. On a local level, the Chambers use the results as a barometer of the local economy and to influence Local Authorities and the Local Enterprise Partnership.
