Sheffield College Apprentice Shortlisted For Yorkshire Accountancy Awards

27th April 2018

A Sheffield College apprentice has been shortlisted in a regional awards scheme that celebrates Yorkshire's outstanding accountancy talent.

Bethany Baum, 18, who is completing an Accounting Apprenticeship at Level 3 at Mind Your Assets Accounts, Rutland Road, is a finalist in the Trainee of the Year category of the Yorkshire Accountancy Awards. Bev Flanagan, Managing Director, Mind Your Assets Accounts, said: -We are thrilled that Beth has been shortlisted. Beth is a real asset to our company and goes above and beyond, every single day, to help our team. Nothing is too much trouble. Beth is a quick learner and highly professional in everything she does. She continued: -Beth is our third apprentice. We really thrive on employing apprentices as it is so enjoyable to be able to help them get into their accountancy careers by providing on the job training to support their studies. Bethany said: -When Bev first told me that I was a finalist I didn't believe her. I am over the moon! I chose to be an apprentice because I completed work experience at Mind Your Assets Accounts last year and preferred learning within the practical working environment than studying purely at college. She added: -Now I have the best of both worlds. I am really enjoying my apprenticeship because it's hands on experience, covering a lot of different accounting tasks with colleagues and clients. Andrew Hartley, Commercial Director, The Sheffield College, said: -Congratulations to Beth on this fantastic achievement! Apprenticeships are a great career option. We want to encourage more young people and employers to benefit from the opportunities that apprenticeships provide. The Yorkshire Accountancy Awards ceremony takes place at New Dock Hall in Leeds on May 10th.
