19th February 2018

Design Engineers Webster Technologies have once again been awarded funding from the prestigious UK innovation agency for a project to develop a new hydraulic breaker attachment.

Headed by Chartered Engineer Ian Webster, Sheffield family business Webster Technologies has managed to ride the ups and downs of the construction world through a combination of shrewd changes in their business model and a keen focus on innovation through the design and development of new products Belinda Naylor, Business Development Manager said -We are delighted to have been awarded a second grant from Innovate UK. The first grant in 2014 helped take the product from a good idea to prototype stage. Winning funding in the current round is great news and will help us build on what we have already achieved; helping fast track the project and ultimately taking the new breaker to market. We are engaging with universities and local industry experts and have built a great relationship with Sheffield AMRC (Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre) tapping into their world class testing facilities. Belinda went on to say -For anyone thinking of applying for a grant with Innovate UK I would say go for it. Innovation has lots of benefits for the local and national economy and has really helped our business grow. The cost of innovation and self- financing the development of new products can be a real challenge for SME's so funding sources like Innovate UK help reduce some of the barriers.
