Sheffield FC increase membership numbers by thousands with the help of Hydra Creative

18th January 2022

Sheffield FC, the world's oldest football club, successfully enlisted the help of a local award-winning agency to support the launch of their new website and boost memberships to the club.

Sheffield FC is known for being 'the world's oldest football club', but due to their lack of visibility, the club struggled to be recognised online. Due to this, their website was suffering. This minimised the crucial income generation for the club via merchandise sales and memberships.

The Hydra Creative team has supported the club with their new website launch and has continuedly worked on their SEO and Digital PR strategy. Their results have made a big difference for the club. Sheffield FC has generated over 4000 new club members and has increased online visibility by over 50.

Chairman of Sheffield FC, Richard Tims, spoke on working with the team:

"The SEO part of our strategy has been massive, and it has given us some great results. We own USPs, like 'the world's oldest football club', so we have quite a broad remit, but I don't think we would have ever been found for that term if we hadn't used Hydra Creative."

Keith Tarry, Business Development Manager at the agency, says:

"It's great to hear that we've helped Sheffield FC come so far; our team has put a lot of work into the website over the past year. The results speak for themselves – we've increased website users by over 56 and helped the club reach top-ranking positions for key search terms like 'home of football' and 'Sheffield football'."

Sheffield FC uses their newfound visibility and their 4000 new members to help promote the club and fund a new stadium. The stadium will be based at Sheffield Transport Sports Club. Tims is optimistic that the club's growth will benefit the locals and encourage fans from further afield to come and visit the wonderful steel city.
