Football’s founders, Sheffield FC, team up with award winning digital agency, Hydra Creative, to target top spot

21st January 2021

The world’s oldest football club are targeting promotion into the big league after partnering with an award winning digital marketing agency.

The move is one of a series of ventures aimed at kick starting the club’s ambitions to get back in the top flight of Google’s search rankings.

Nicknamed “The Club”, football’s old guard outfit signed up with digital agency Hydra Creative as part of its January SEO Transfer Window campaign.

Throughout the month of January, the agency is offering businesses the chance to sign up and get a free website review and advice on how to outrank their competition on Google.

The Northern Premier League side, which describes itself as The Home of Football, wanted to raise their game and snapped up the opportunity to intensify promotional efforts off the pitch.

Plans for a new website are already underfoot, and the club recently signed a new kit deal with Dutch supplier, Copa.

The online search effort is part of the next phase as the club rolls out its World’s First Football Club campaign.

Sheffield FC chairman, Richard Tims, was over the moon with the Hydra Creative partnership.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Hydra Creative to support our ongoing strategy to develop the brand and communicate the history of The World’s Oldest Football Club and the beautiful game.

We have several exciting projects in the works, and our partnership with Hydra Creative will be integral to deliver the message of The World’s First.”

Google Partner, Hydra Creative, will be working closely with the club during the rest of the season, and is delighted with the new partnership.

Hydra Creative’s business development manager, Keith Tarry, described the partnership as a major ‘coup’ and a wonderful opportunity to work with a truly historic football team:

“Signing up the world’s first football club during our SEO Transfer Window campaign is great news for Hydra Creative, and is a clear indication of what we have planned for this year.

We’re thrilled to be working with an organisation with such an historic background. We can’t wait to get stuck in and move Sheffield FC up the Google rankings table so football fans the world over will be able to easily find out information on where the beautiful game actually started.”

January SEO Transfer Window

Hydra Creative’s team used the frenetic world of football’s January Transfer Window to carry perhaps the most important digital marketing message of the year – Google’s planned search rankings shake up coming in the Spring.

The campaign reminds businesses to prepare for planned major changes to Google’s algorithms as well as the importance of keeping up with the ongoing challenges of search engine optimisation (SEO) and digital marketing.

If you feel let down by your SEO company or simply haven’t the time or skills to carry out your own SEO, it’s time to transfer to Hydra. Sheffield FC did.
