Sheffield Hallam crowned inaugural Business Games champions

Sheffield Hallam Active (SHA) were crowned winners of the inaugural South Yorkshire Sport Business Games held in Sheffield.

Almost 90 competitors from nine teams spent three action packed hours at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre competing against each other in touch rugby, rounders, dodgeball. They also took part in a dryathlon - nine minutes on a rowing machine and spin bike with teams aiming for the greatest total distance. The Business Games were part of the Workplace Challenge initiative, a national programme from County Sports Partnership Network funded by Sport England which aims to engage workplaces in sport and physical activity. The SHA team was made up of members from the sports development department at Sheffield Hallam University, narrowly coming out ahead of joint runners up Sheffield United Community Foundation and Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School. Louise Grabowski from Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School was presented with the Participant of the Games award for her enthusiastic approach. Organisations also represented included Crib Compare, Rounders England, ITM Power Plc, B. Braun Medical Ltd, Adwick ASC and Barnsley FC Community Sports & Education Trust. Scott Richardson, part of the victorious SHA team, said: -It feels great to win the first ever workplace challenge business games. -The trophy will be pride of place in our office; we can't wait for the next event. Shareen Hutton, from Sheffield United Community Foundation, said: -Tonight has been great. It's been a good way to see how our team works together outside of work. The event also raised money for charity partners Macmillan Cancer Support, with each team donating their entry fee to the charity.
