Sheffield Hallam one of the best for student satisfaction
27th January 2016
Sheffield Hallam University has once again been heralded as one of the best universities in a student satisfaction survey, proving to be the place to be for post graduate research.
Sheffield Hallam came first out of 19 universities in five categories in the latest Student Barometer survey, including research and international student advice. Hallam was ranked second in the country for overall living experience with a massive 92.5% of students satisfied across a number of areas including the cost of living, Sheffield Hallam being "a good place to be" (96.3% satisfaction level) and campus environment (94.9%). The University was also ranked in the top three for accommodation quality, virtual learning, and campus buildings - an area Hallam have heavily invested in over recent months, including the much anticipated re-development of the Head Post Office and the £27 million Heart of the Campus. The University came top in the survey for the level of post graduate research activity and scored the highest satisfaction levels for how confident students felt about managing their own research project. Paul Harrison, pro-vice chancellor for research said: "It's fantastic that the University has once again been recognised for the quality of its research, particularly as the recognition has come from the students themselves. The results of the survey show that we are able to combine our culture of industrially-relevant, applied research with an excellent training and development programme for our postgraduate researchers." The Student Barometer survey is administered by the International Graduate Insight Group (i-graduate), and tracks the opinions of students at higher education institutions at 19 of the UK's universities. Results are from the latest survey which tracked opinions in autumn 2015.
