Sheffield Hallam unveiled as Northern Powerhouse Partner

Sheffield Hallam University has been announced as a Northern Powerhouse partner, underlining its commitment to supporting economic growth in the north.

Sheffield Hallam joins an elite group of northern organisations committed to joining forces with Government to help the North achieve its full potential and attract new jobs and investment to the region. With over 31,500 students, Sheffield Hallam is one of the largest universities in the UK. Studies have shown that the University adds an annual £424m to the regional economy. The university collaborates with hundreds of businesses across the Northern Powerhouse, helping to create jobs and attract new investment through innovation, research and highly skilled graduates. Northern Powerhouse Minister Andrew Percy MP, said: -The Northern Powerhouse is home to some of the world's top universities, more than one million businesses and an economy worth £316 billion in 2015 similar to the whole of Belgium. -We're determined to build on this strength so I'm delighted that Sheffield Hallam University is demonstrating its commitment to help attract jobs and boost growth in the North. Professor Chris Husbands, Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University, said: - "As one of the UK's largest providers of higher education, Sheffield Hallam University has an outstanding track record in working with partners across the North to drive economic growth, innovation and opportunity.
