Sheffield manufacturer supports ‘most vulnerable children in society’ with emergency postural care scheme

3rd April 2020

A leading UK postural support specialist has launched a new low-cost scheme to provide disabled children and their families with access to potentially life-saving equipment.

Jiraffe, based in Hillsborough, Sheffield, has announced its ‘Emergency Posture Provision’ initiative to give families access to support equipment, offering ‘immediate assistance’ to ‘some of the most vulnerable children and adults in society’.

The short-term loan service offers flexible and easy access to vital seating, standing, sleeping and, mobility support equipment for children and adults across the UK.

Richard Harvey, National Clinical Training Manager at Jiraffe, said: “Our new service ‘Emergency Posture Provision’ will offer immediate assistance to those in desperate need of postural care.

“During this time of uncertainty and self-isolation, it is our responsibility to come together as a community and support one another.

“We work with some of the most vulnerable children and adults in society, specialising in postural management and offering solutions to problems, and as the situation across the world changes we all need to be dynamic and flexible in how we help one another.”

In addition to supporting vulnerable people across the UK, the Jiraffe team has launched the scheme to ‘help reduce the burden’ on public services for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis and beyond.

Richard said: “Working also with many different external agencies such as the NHS, Social Services and local equipment stores we recognise the newly developing problems they are facing.

“Our team has been working tirelessly to come up with new and innovative ways to help reduce the burden on public services whilst keep the needs of vulnerable children and adults at the centre of our focus. We are delighted to be supporting people and services with this new initiative.”
