Sheffield Mind

"Having good mental health means being able to live a fulfilling life and managing well when life is challenging.

It is important in all aspects of our lives; it enables us to make positive relationships with others and enables us to perform to the best of our ability at work. It makes us happier and more positive and enables us to look after ourselves and others. People with good mental health are less likely to become physically ill and will recover more quickly if they do.  However, mental health problems are very common - one in 4 of us will be affected at some point in our lives and one in six of all employees will be experiencing mental health difficulties at any one time. Therefore we are all likely to be affected either directly or through close family or friends. Sheffield Mind offers help and support to help those experiencing problems recover and lead a fulfilling life. We also work to prevent people developing mental health problems in the first place.  We run a number of services including a counselling service, groups and activities such as anger management and emotional wellbeing courses to help people lead healthier lives. We provide support for working carers who are experiencing difficulties at work and run courses on mental health awareness for employers and line managers. Being able to find reliable information about mental health and the help available is essential so we also run the Sheffield Mental Health Guide website which contains a lot of information and a directory of over 350 services for people in Sheffield. Please do take a look by going to www.sheffieldmentalhealth.org.uk.  We can also speak with people needing help and support on the phone. You can find out more about Sheffield Mind and the work we do on our website www.sheffieldmind.co.uk or ring us on 0114 258 4489"
