Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society packed 65 activity boxes for Dragonfly Cancer Trust, bringing comfort, fun, and a smile to young cancer patients during hospital stays.
The team at Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society has gone above and beyond to bring comfort to children living cancer. On Thursday, 26th February, they packed 65 activity boxes for Dragonfly Cancer Trust, providing much-needed distraction and fun for young patients during their hospital stays.
“We are proud to support Dragonfly Cancer Trust and the vital work they do for children and families facing a cancer diagnosis. Packing these activity boxes is a small gesture, but we hope they bring moments of comfort, distraction and cheer. As a mutual, supporting our communities and making a positive difference is at the heart of everything we do, and we're delighted that our team can play a part,” said Jamie Bellamy, Chief Executive Officer, Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society.
“These activity boxes are more than just things to do, they bring comfort, a moment of creativity, and a smile when children need it most,” said Natalie Hickinbottom, Sheffield Regional Fundraiser at Dragonfly Cancer Trust. “Each box helps a child feel a little more normal, a little less alone, and a little happier during a very challenging time.”
The activity boxes include arts and crafts, games, and other engaging materials designed to support children’s emotional wellbeing and provide a sense of normality during treatment.
Dragonfly Cancer Trust relies on the generosity of local businesses and supporters to make these boxes possible, and the contribution from Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society demonstrates a commitment to the community and a compassionate understanding of the challenges these children face.
