Sheffield Technology Company Scoops Two National Awards

27th November 2015

Alexa Greaves, MD of Sheffield tech company AAG Systems Ltd, collected not one but two prestigious awards at the Forward Ladies' National Women in Business Awards 2015, held at The Queens Hotel, Leeds on Friday November 20.

Greaves was named Business Woman of the Year and also snared the Business of the Year (Growth 10+ employees category) award for her Yorkshire-based IT company, making her the only double award winner at the event. In their sixth year, and with more than 400 people attending, the awards are always hotly contested both nationally and at the local level by female entrepreneurs and woman-owned businesses across all industry sectors. Earlier this year at the Yorkshire & North East heats of the awards Greaves took home the regional award for SME business of the year on behalf of AAG. Speaking after receiving both awards, Greaves stressed the importance of organisations like Forward Ladies saying, -WIBA is an important showcase for the talents and achievements of leading women in business, and it's a great honour to collect two National awards on top of our success in their regional competitions." Greaves was quick to share the credit for the awards with her colleagues, continuing "These awards are a testament to the skill and dedication of the whole AAG team to making our company an industry leader. Having so many women in the boardroom is still unusual in our industry, but we're proving that there are no gender barriers to success at AAG, because we're all committed to the same goals for the business". -The list of WIBA nominees is full of inspirational people", continued Greaves, "demonstrating that women are more than capable of making great strides in entrepreneurship and ever greater inroads into the boardroom. We need more talented individuals in business, regardless of gender, and the support and recognition of fantastic organisations like Forward Ladies does invaluable work in inspiring women in particular to ignore the 'glass ceiling' and just go for it.
