Sheffield Young People Meet their athlete mentors and kick start programme
17th November 2023
Dame Kelly Holmes Trust 'On Track To Achieve' programmes in Sheffield got off to a flying start this week, as the schools came together for the launch event at the English Institute of Sport.
Young people from 11 of the 12 participating schools came together to meet their athlete mentors, learn more about what they will be involved in over the course of the school year, and importantly to have fun meeting each other!
They started the day with a mass rock, paper, scissors challenge - with the winner taking the glory for their school!
The challenges continued throughout the morning with Jenga reach, a race against the clock and obstacle courses
The programmes, supported by Dame Kelly Holmes Trust partners, Westfield Health and Mott Macdonald, form part of our Sheffield hub: targeting the more deprived areas, supporting hundreds of young people facing challenges and adversity in their everyday lives, across the city this year, the third in our partnership with Westfield Health, and the second in our partnership with Mott Macdonald.
The wellbeing programmes for students in 12 Sheffield secondary schools will run over the course of the school year and will see students delivering social action projects in the city, engaging primary schools’ years 5 and 6 in wellbeing activities focusing on their transition to secondary school.
