South Yorkshire Law Firm Sets Pulses Racing for the British Heart Foundation
15th February 2016
On 5th February, employees across a South Yorkshire Law Firm's three offices wore red and set pulses racing by taking part in physical challenges in order to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation on 'Wear It.
Beat It.' Day. The total amount raised by Taylor Bracewell has now been added up and comes to £169.50, an amount raised entirely by donations from participating staff and visitors to the firm's three offices, which were decorated with red heart balloons and gorgeous red apples for staff and visitors to enjoy. -The idea was to be more physically active that day with the attitude of looking after your heart and health as well as raising funds to support this worthy charity says Alison Kitchman, Partner and Head of the Family team in Sheffield and Doncaster. Activities included: A stairs challenge in the Sheffield office, whereby staff committed to using the stairs (125 steps each time) instead of the lift for the full week ending 5th February and paying a forfeit each time they used the lift. HR Consultant Jo Cairns cycled or walked to and from work every day that week. Head of HR and Employment and of the Sheffield office, Sara Ellison, took part in 'Bootcamp' keep fit classes very early in the mornings and at lunchtime. Jessica Lidster, Employment Lawyer in Sheffield, went swimming before work. Staff from the Sheffield office and the Thorne Road office in Doncaster went for a lunchtime walk. Staff at the Railway Court office in Doncaster got very competitive with Hula Hoops and planking challenges. Kerry Maddison, Commercial Property Lawyer, was crowned 'Fitness Queen', having beaten all the men (and women) at press-ups! Even the Sheffield Head of Probate, Lauren Smith, unwittingly took part in the activities from her honeymoon, where she did much walking 11 miles one day in Singapore. Taylor Bracewell is a Legal 500 recommended firm whose charities department has been recognised in its own right. The firm sponsored the -3rd Sector Business/Organisation of the Year" category at the Doncaster Chamber Business Awards in 2014 and 2015 and supports charities wherever possible, having taken part in events such as 'Skydive for Stephen' in 2015 (raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of Stephen Sutton).
