Staff Cycle Equivalent Distance to Russia in Charity Bike Ride

28th August 2014

Staff at a freight management company has helped raise more than £6,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance after cycling the equivalent distance from Sheffield to northern Russia.

512 (Sheffield) organised the two-week activity with staff cycling for 70 hours on static bikes within the company's office at the Sheffield International Freight Terminal on Grange Mill Lane. The team's initial target was 1,000 miles, but with support from clients and partner companies including Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, Cutting & Wear, Edward Turner Professional Response and South Yorkshire International Trade Centre, the group more than doubled their target distance. Static bikes were provided to 512 by PureGym Sheffield City Centre with employees cycling for more than seven hours a day over a ten-day period. Staff also received product packs donated by Sheffield-based Betteryou. 512 took the bikes to Morrison's in Chapeltown to help raise money and support for the campaign from shoppers. Karen Mosley, head of business development at 512, said: -We are delighted with the amount of money we have raised. Our initial targets were to cycle 1,000 miles and raise £1,000 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, so we have significantly exceeded all our expectations. -The support we received from clients, partners, suppliers and members of the public has been fantastic and we thank everyone who has donated time and money to the fundraising. 512 presented a cheque to Yorkshire Air Ambulance during a Polo match at Toulston Polo Ground in Tadcaster between BristolUniversity and Toulston. To still donate to 512 with its fundraising please text AUGT91 and the amount to 70070, donate via its Justgiving page or send a cheque direct to 512.
