Stagecoach tops South Yorkshire tables in transport watchdog survey

Stagecoach Yorkshire has topped the tables in the South Yorkshire area for a number of key areas of bus travel, according to a national survey by a transport watchdog.

The leading local bus operator took the top spot in South Yorkshire with an overall passenger satisfaction rate of 88 per cent in the Transport Focus survey two per cent higher than the national average across the country for all operators. The independent transport user watchdog consulted more than 40,000 passengers in England to produce the Bus Passenger Survey (BPS) 2015, measuring passengers' satisfaction with their local bus services. The survey found Stagecoach Yorkshire, which operates services in Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster, came out on top in South Yorkshire in areas including value for money (71 per cent), and punctuality (79 per cent). Stagecoach also scored the highest rating in South Yorkshire for on-bus journey time with 86 per cent and the helpfulness and attitude of the drivers with 75 per cent.
