A famous chain of local bakeries is giving those with a sweet tooth the perfect excuse to indulge as it launches a delicious new treat in support of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Staniforths’ star bakers have given the hospice’s popular mascot, George the Dog, the gingerbread treatment to help raise much-needed funds for the charity.

All Staniforths’ goods are handmade on site and with a strict quality control process and many taste testings, it’s rumoured to be their most delicious gingerbread snack yet. And with 20 of each Gingerbread George sold going directly to the charity, it’s the perfect guilt-free way to treat the kids and young at heart.

Fittingly, Gingerbread George will make his culinary debut at the Staniforth’s shop on Effingham Square, Rotherham on St George’s Day, 23rd April. With the first 100 Gingerbread Georges being handed out free of charge, gingerbread-lovers are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment.

The delectable doggy will then be available at all Staniforth’s 16 bakeries across Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham from 25th April.

Julie Wisher, Operations Manager at Staniforths said: “As a family-run bakery with our heart very much in the community we jumped at the chance to support such an amazing local charity in such a fun and inventive way.

“We’re sure Gingerbread George will be a huge success and we’re very excited for all our sweet-toothed customers to try one.”

After Gingerbread George launches on 23rd April, the delectable doggy will be available at all Staniforth’s 16 bakeries across South Yorkshire from 25th April.

Jason Gossop, Regional Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, said: “I’ve had the privilege of taste testing Gingerbread George and there’s no doubt at all that Staniforth’s creative team is deserving of a Hollywood handshake!

“We’d like to say a big thank you to Staniforths for embracing Gingerbread George with such passion and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to see our much-loved mascot on shelves across the region.

“Remember, every single Gingerbread George sold will help us make magical memories with local children families - so it’s the perfect excuse for a treat!”
