1st August 2019

Yorkshire-based Street CraneXpress Ltd, has received a prestigious award in recognition of its commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record.

The crane specialist - part of the SCX Group at Wincobank, Sheffield,  has achieved, for the second time in three years,  a Gold in the internationally renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK. The scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. Street Crane Xpress Director Ray Fletcher said: -It is incredibly satisfying to see Street CraneXpress recognised with such a prestigious award. It is paramount that work is completed to the highest possible standards concerning health and safety, given the hazardous nature of our business. This award is testament to the efforts made by every single member of our team and it's a fantastic way of benchmarking our high expectations. SCX's Safety, Health, Environment & Quality manager, Tony Nudd said: -Health and safety is the number one priority at Street CraneXpress and to be awarded the RoSPA Gold Award for a second time is an achievement we are very proud of. -Our health and safety team works tirelessly to ensure that all our employees, customers and the general public are free from harm at all times, and the policies, procedures and work instructions we have put in place are testament to this. -The Gold Award is recognition for the hard work done so far but does not mean that we will rest on our laurels. Our aim is to constantly improve and continue to be deserving of the RoSPA Gold Award. Julia Small, RoSPA' s head of qualifications, awards and events, said: -The RoSPA Awards have become the key fixture in the health and safety calendar with new sponsors and new awards this year including the Leisure Safety Awards, the Safe@Work Safe@Home Award and the Inspiration Awards. Highly respected, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, RoSPA award winners benefit from the wide-ranging rewards of improved sector reputation. The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, president's awards, orders of distinction and the Patron's Award are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years. Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education. There are specialist awards for health at work, environmental management and fleet safety, and excellence trophies for the best international, new entry, workforce involvement and organisation operating or based in Scotland. RoSPA's top accolade is the Sir George Earle Trophy. The family-run SCX Group, which was founded in 1972 and has more than 160 employees, has seen substantial growth across its three sectors - SCX Special Projects, national crane service provider Street CraneXpress and wholesale distributor of electrical control gear Burnand XH. It is the company behind pioneering pitch developments at the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium and the roofing over Centre and Number One courts All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon. Headline sponsor of the RoSPA Awards 2019 is NEBOSH the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health for the 14th consecutive year.
