Strengthens National Restructuring & Insolvency Practice with New Leadership Appointments

10th December 2025

Freeths has announced a bold new leadership structure for its market-leading Restructuring & Insolvency (R&I) practice, appointing Graeme Danby as National Head of Insolvency and John Jeffreys as National Head of Restructuring.

This strategic move underscores the firm’s commitment to enhancing its capabilities and consolidating its position as one of the UK’s foremost R&I law firms.

With over 50 years of combined experience, Graeme and John’s leadership will reinforce Freeths’ strong focus on the traditional insolvency market, where the firm was ranked the highest performing by claim volume in the Insolvency and Companies List for the second consecutive year in Solomonic’s Year in Review 2025, while simultaneously driving the accelerated growth of its restructuring capabilities.

Previously heading up Freeths’ Debt Recovery & Creditor Services team nationally, Graeme has specialised in managing key insolvency practitioner relationships across Freeths’ UK network for over 12 years.

With a focus on restructuring and special situations, John has worked on significant projects across most sectors for almost 30 years, both as a partner at his previous firm DLA Piper and since joining Freeths over five years ago. He has sector experience in real estate, automotive and infrastructure, construction and retail, hospitality and leisure. John will bring his extensive experience on working on larger assignments to drive forward Freeths’ restructuring and advisory services, bringing clients innovative solutions and trusted guidance across larger, complex restructuring and recovery mandates.

Commenting on his appointment, Graeme Danby said:

“I look forward to taking on this role and continuing to build on Freeths’ strong reputation in the insolvency market. Our focus remains on delivering exceptional service to clients while strengthening relationships with insolvency practitioners nationwide.”

John Jeffreys added:

“By working closely with colleagues across the firm and our national clients, both Graeme and I will provide crucial support to clients navigating complex financial challenges and deliver critical commercial advice to all stakeholders supporting them in pressurised situations and working across disciplines to challenging deadlines. We are excited at the prospect of driving forward and continuing the growth of Freeths’ national offering.”

Freeths’ leading national Restructuring & Insolvency team provides specialist advice to insolvency practitioners, lenders, corporates and all stakeholders.
