Historic Sheffield sub-contract engineering firm PCT has created a new welding team to meet growing demand from the construction industry.
The five-strong team are working a split shift system as orders continue to increase for the engineering sub-contractor which now employs 70. Earlier this year PCT invested more than £550,000 in new machinery to fuel growth in a range of sectors. PCT replaced two existing high definition plasma cutters with a Bystronic fiber laser. The capital investment was supported by a £50,000 grant from Sheffield City Region Business Investment Fund. James Harding-Terry, Managing Director at PCT, said the company had seen a rise in orders from the construction industry. "We have the highest levels of health and safety accreditations and our CE accreditations are proving critical and enabling us to win work in areas such as construction safety where this level of accreditation is mandatory. "The investment and new machinery has already had an enormous impact on productivity and quality. The new welding team enables us to further add to our expertise offering customers a sub contract engineering one-stop-shop. PCT was founded in 1926 and celebrated its 90th anniversary last year. The company, based at Holbrook, Sheffield, operates in a range of sectors including the construction industry and the automotive sector producing up to 50,000 towbars annually.
