Student design exhibition to explore life in Park Hill

14th January 2016

A new art exhibition inspired by Park Hill opens to the public this week.

Life on the Hill will showcase the work of product, furniture and interior design students from Sheffield Hallam University, inspired by the people and their lives in Park Hill. The exhibition, which is being hosted by Made North Gallery in Sheffield, is a collaboration between the gallery, Sheffield Hallam's Sheffield Institute of Arts (SIA) and Urban Splash and will focus on the theme of 'work, rest and play'. Richard Evans, senior design lecturer at SIA, said: "The design students were briefed to look closely at the city of Sheffield for inspiration and have focussed their attention on the shifting nature of the work-life balance. "Our students worked in groups across Sheffield's art scene; communal living spaces, community change and growth, and individual wellbeing. The students have created some unique and impressive work and we are excited about being able to share this work with the public alongside Urban Splash and Made North." The free exhibition will be open to the public from 15 January until 27 February at Made North Gallery, Brown Street, Sheffield, between Wednesdays and Fridays 12-5pm and Saturdays 11am-4pm.
