8th July 2015
Preparations for a new season at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane stadium have been given a boost by students from one of the Club's partners.
A group of students from Sheffield College's Painting and Decorating courses are completing a period of work experience with the Blades. Kieran Gelder, Broadie McCormick and Curtis Gregory, all aged 17, are putting their skills in to practice around the ground. Dave McCarthy, Operations Director at Sheffield United, said: 'We are delighted that we have been able to provide some valuable work experience for students who have completed their courses for this year. Learning on the job is always beneficially and the lads are doing a great job. They are credit to the College. Of their experience Kieran, Broadie and Curtis commented: -It has been a hot period to come in and work. It has been a valuable experience for us to go alongside side our college course. It has been well worth doing especially as our term has finished and given us something positive to follow-up with. Curtis, a Sheffield Wednesday fan, said: -Obviously it has been unusual for an Owl to be a the Lane but everyone has been really helpful and pleasant and we have had a lot of good banter! Sheffield College tutor Andy Biggin said: -Sheffield United have provided three of our students with a fantastic opportunity to experience the world of work, and to take the skills learnt at college into the workplace. We look forward to working together to offer similar placements in the future." Caption from left to right Curtis, Broadie and Kieran with their Sheffield College tutors Andy Biggin and Shaun Weller
