Success for Sheffield Hallam in 2021 Complete University Guide

15th June 2020

Sheffield Hallam has risen six places in the newly published 2021 Complete University Guide rankings and has been named in the top 20 for student satisfaction.

The increase is the latest in a number of league table improvements and awards for the University.

The Complete University Guide ranking is based on ten measures: entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality, research intensity, graduate prospects, student-staff ratio, spending on academic services, spending on student facilities, good honours degrees, and completion.

The University jumped to 67th in the 2021 rankings out of 130 institutions within the UK - a rise of six places compared with 2020.

On student satisfaction, Sheffield Hallam was ranked as 20th out of the 130 institutions.

It follows the naming of Sheffield Hallam as University of the Year for Teaching Quality 2020 by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide and improvements in other university league tables, including an improvement of 15 places in the Guardian University Guide last year.

Vice Chancellor at Sheffield Hallam University, Professor Sir Chris Husbands said:

“I am delighted that the university has moved up 6 places in the Complete University Guide, and I am particularly pleased that Sheffield Hallam has been placed in the top 20 universities for student satisfaction.

“This ranking builds on our continued upward trajectory, reflected in our award for Teaching Quality last year, and demonstrates our commitment to student experience. It is a testament to the hard work of both staff and student who should all be rightly proud of this result”

Simon Emmett, CEO at IDP Connect, owners of the Guide said:

“It’s been interesting to see changes at both a regional, national and subject level this year, we’ve seen a big increase in interest in courses related to Medicine, making the changes in those already popular tables particularly significant this year.”
