Support a local charity and make a big difference to people with learning disabilities and their families in Sheffield.

18th June 2019

Sheffield Mencap & Gateway is a local charity that supports more than 600 adults and young people with learning disabilities and their families in Sheffield every year.

We've had another busy year and are working hard to maintain our wide range of support and services. We are continuously looking for ways to do more and help more people and are able to do this thanks to the generosity of our supporters. On Saturday June 22nd, we are holding a Summer Fair, an opportunity for the local community to visit us, have fun, do some shopping, enjoy a BBQ and crucially, to help us raise money for our charity. The event comes towards the end of Learning Disability Week, a national initiative to raise awareness of learning disabilities. Held at our home at Norfolk Lodge, where we are surrounded by beautiful woodland and just a stone's throw from Norfolk Park, we are easily accessible from the city centre. We are asking local businesses in Sheffield to support our Summer Fair, and you can get involved in the following ways: - Donating a prize for our raffle, where you will be thanked both at the event, on social media and in all post-event publicity; - Sponsorship of our event, giving you the opportunity to display promotional items at the event and you will be thanked in all publicity on the day and after the event; - Come! We'd love to see you there with family, friends and colleagues and there will be lots of activities and games including 'Beat the goalie', a bouncy castle, plant and cake stalls, and a BBQ. The fair runs from 1-3pm and entry is free. Any support you can offer would be really appreciated by us and our members and you will be making a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities in Sheffield. If you want to know more, please contact our fundraising manager Vicky Toogood on vickytoogood@sheffieldmencap.org.uk or call 0114 276 7757. You can find out more about our charity on our website: www.sheffieldmencap.org.uk. We hope to see you on the 22nd!
