Taylor Bracewell Announce Latest Partner

26th September 2017

Taylor Bracewell are delighted to announce that Stephen Coates, Head of Wills, Probate and Trust has become the latest partner at Taylor Bracewell.

Stephen's route to partnership is rather unusual. After excellent A-level results Stephen went off to Leeds University to study politics, however after his first year he realised university was not for him. As a young man with a strong work ethic he needed to get a job and joined WH Smith in a seasonal position which lasted 2 years. He was an outstanding employee and was given the opportunity to sign up for the fast tracked management scheme at WH Smith. Stephen then faced a life changing decision; apply for an apprenticeship with Atteys Solicitors, or join the management scheme at WH Smith. Stephen chose the law, and has never looked back. Stephen started his legal career as a trainee in the Probate department and opted to earn and learn, through work experience and part time study. Stephen was enjoying his work and progressing well. However his legal studies were sidelined when his children came on the scene. Atteys sudden closure left him with a young family and no job. Although it was a worrying time Stephen had a number of law firms eager to engage his services. Luckily he decided on a job with Taylor Bracewell in April 2013. Following rapid expansion Taylor Bracewell added a new management tier in December 2014 and Stephen was asked to head up the Wills, Probate and Trust team. He has excelled in this position and his department has flourished and will expand further shortly with a new senior appointment. Earlier this year Taylor Bracewell became an ABS (Alternative Business Structure) a key move enabling Stephen to become partner in the Firm. Stephen's story is truly inspiring and proof that hard work and dedication equals great results. At a time when many young people are unsure of their future and feel that university is not for them, then they need look no further than Stephen for great inspiration. Stephen is one of the nice guys. His helpfulness and down to earth attitude around the office rubs off not only on his team but all the staff who get to work with him. Stephen will continue in his role as Head of Wills, Probate and Trust. -It is really great to become partner in a Firm which I hold in such high regard. Taylor Bracewell has a clear path to the top which is open to anyone who is willing to put the work in. I'm excited to get started on a new role which brings different challenges and more responsibility, helping the existing partners to ensure the firm continues to flourish. Stephen Coates Sharon Beck Chief Executive commented -I am delighted that Stephen has agreed to join the Partnership. Stephen understands how important his new role will be in developing a bright future for the Practice. Like me, Stephen chose an untraditional route to Partnership. Unlike many other firms at Taylor Bracewell, your hard work and commitment will not go unnoticed. A great day for Stephen and Taylor Bracewell!
