Taylor Emmet marks a year of support for Sheffield Children’s Hospital

21st December 2022

Sheffield Law Region law firm Taylor Emmet has sponsored a Christmas snowflake at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, rounding off a year of support for the hospital’s charity.

The firm chose The Children’s Hospital Charity as one of four charity partners for 2022 and held a range of fundraising events to support them. This included a charity skydive earlier this year which raised over £1,500 per charity.

Taylor Emmet now has a snowflake on the side of The Children’s Hospital building on Western Bank, joining a number of local businesses that sponsor the hospital’s famous Christmas lights which were switched on at an event on 5 December. To date, the firm has generated over £2,500 for the charity.

The support forms part of Taylor Emmet’s broader charitable commitment for 2022. All employees are entitled to take advantage of a firmwide 'Volunteer Day' initiative, which allows each team member to take part in a fully paid day to volunteer for any charity of their choice.

Taylor Emmet CEO, Steve Hinshelwood said: "We are so thankful and proud of everyone who gave up their time to support our charity partners this year.

“The Sheffield Children’s Hospital is a lifeline for our region which does so much for the people who need it, so it’s fantastic that we can support them. It’s a privilege to be associated with their famous Christmas lights and we were delighted to be there for the switch-on event.”

In 2021, the firm purchased a ‘Bear of Sheffield’ after the sculptures were auctioned off by the charity. The bear, named Jarvis after the famous Sheffield Pulp singer, now lives in Taylor Emmet’s city centre office.

Steve added: "At Taylor Emmet, we understand the importance of giving back to the community in which we serve, and we also want to show our commitment to organisations that mean the most to our colleagues.

“Charitable support has been a key part of the business for many years, and that will continue to be the case as the process of choosing four charity partners for 2023 is set to begin in the coming weeks.”
