Taylor&Emmet steps out in force to support local 10K

24th March 2021

A record number of staff from Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP are taking part in this year’s Dronfield 10K, which the firm is sponsoring for the fourth consecutive year.

Due to current Covid restrictions, the event has moved online for 2021 and participants are running the distance in their own time through March.

Taylor&Emmet’s team comprises 32 employees from across its Sheffield city centre, Banner Cross and Dronfield offices, including five partners. They will be tackling the 10K distance in one go, two 5km runs or five 2km stints. Each person must record their efforts on Strava or similar app and upload it to the official website, using a unique link.

This unprecedented uptake from staff is being attributed to the launch of Taylor&Emmet’s ‘wellbeing challenge’ - an internal initiative to improve mental and physical health, whilst most employees are working from home. Each week, points can be earned by undertaking 30 minutes exercise or random acts of kindness, which are tallied and a prize awarded to the winner.

Sharna Poxon, Taylor&Emmet’s head of HR and virtual Dronfield 10K participant, said: “It is a real pleasure to see so many of my colleagues showing their support for this well-loved community event that usually attracts hundreds of runners to Dronfield. As we each find ways to cope with lockdown, there is real enthusiasm for getting outdoors and keeping fit and we are encouraging this through our wellbeing challenge. I have no doubt the 10K runners will be in with a shot at first prize!”

The Dronfield 10K and Fun Run is an annual event, organised to raise funds for the 7th Dronfield Scouts. This is the first time in its 26-year history that the physical race has not taken place, although all participants will receive a medal and an official time. Entry to the virtual event costs £6 and closes on March 28. Proof of completion needs to be uploaded by April 13. For more information, visit: https://www.dronfield10k.co.uk/

Taylor&Emmet has sponsored the Dronfield 10K since 2018 and submitted a team each year. For more information about its community engagement, telephone (0114) 218 4000, visit: www.tayloremmet.co.uk or follow the firm on Twitter, @TaylorEmmet.
