The Garden Centre Group flourishes with new acquisitions
23rd September 2013
The Garden Centre Group (TGCG) which has 132 centres under the Blooms, Country Gardens and Wyevale brands has acquired seven more sites.
All are large "destination" sites offering more of a leisure experience than the usual garden centre offering. The sites which are in Stourbridge, Ivybridge, Bristol, Huntingdon, Wolverhampton, Coleshill and Shrewsbury, were bought in a deal with Louis Delhaize, which also owns France's leading garden centre chain, Truffaut. The deal is the first acquisition of a major chain of garden centres since TGCG came under the ownership last year of private equity group Terra Firma Capital Partners. Terra Firma asked the Leeds office of Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley to represent The Garden Centre Group. The ten-strong team was led by Directors Russell Davidson and Dan McCormack. Rupert Weston and Jonny Eves of the London and Bristol offices of Burges Salmon acted for the French seller.
