The Northern Wine Guy Announces He Is Making His First Wine!

7th October 2024

After the success of 'The Andy and Olly Show' podcast, friends for life, Oliver Shaw (head winemaker at New Hall in Essex) and Andrew Lofthouse (The Northern Wine Guy) have announced they are set to make their first vintage in Spain!

Andrew Lofthouse, whose brand is known as The Northern Wine Guy and Oliver Shaw, head winemaker at New Hall Vineyards in Essex have had a long standing friendship. Having both worked at Calancombe Estate in Devon, they combined to produce a fun and easy going but informative podcast called 'The Andy and Olly Show'.

Having started by initially recording during their time together at the vineyard, to becoming sponsored and having completed now three series of the show, they have now taken the next leap....they now have a family vineyard based in Spain.

The vineyard is a couple of hours west of Madrid towards the foothills of the mountains and already has Garnacha and Tempranillo planted with established vines. Lofthouse and Shaw have said that their first vintage is very much a work in progress, as they assess the standard of the grape juice, the new growing conditions but the expectation is for the vineyard size to increase over time.

Utilising Shaw's experience as one of the finest winemakers in the UK, this is likely to be a hit in the making! Watch this space!

If you would like to know more or would like to look at placing an order to taste the first vintage once bottled, contact Andrew Lofthouse, The Northern Wine Guy for further details.
