The SEO Works brought it home!

27th July 2021

It wasn’t meant to be for the England football team this year, as they gave it their all in a tense final. However, closer to home, The SEO Works did all they could to get behind the tournament and also support local cancer charity, Cavendish Cancer Care.

Taking part in a charity sweepstake, all of the teams were filled by employees making a donation to take part. With a prize pot up for grabs, it was all down to the final 4 employees during the semi-finals. James Corry was carrying the flag for Denmark, whilst Simon Margetts cheering on Spain. Unfortunately for them, it was England vs Italy in the final, seeing Tom Hoyland and Elliot Stanion go head to head. Sunday 11th July saw Elliot take the money and celebrate a bittersweet win. The donations made through this fundraiser has funded 4 therapy sessions for a cancer patient struggling with the impact of a diagnosis through the pandemic.

Alex Hill, a Director of The SEO Works, said - “It's always a pleasure to raise money and awareness for the amazing work that Cavendish Cancer Care does! And to do it via a Euro Football sweepstake with all of our colleagues at The SEO Works involved was extra special… and if only our boys had put the cherry on top and won the tournament for the nation! We're looking forward to the next charity event in partnership with Cavendish Cancer Care… the Sheffield Half Marathon in September!”

Cavendish Cancer Care have been supporting clients throughout the pandemic via telephone and digital platforms. Their free of charge support has been a ‘lifeline’ for many at a time of intense anxiety, fear and worry. One client seen during the pandemic reflects saying “You guys have always been there in the background and I thought I would never need to use you. Then when all this happened a few friends recommended you and I got in touch, and you were there and you were priceless. If you are affected by cancer, you are there. You pulled me out of a hole.”

The SEO Works team are continuing their support for Cavendish by taking to the streets of Sheffield for the Sheffield Half Marathon taking place on the 26th September. Keep an eye out on social media for the team taking part, how to sponsor them, and cheer them on!
