Theatre company to sprinkle some magic for Bluebell Wood

23rd June 2020

A Barnsley theatre company is hosting a ‘truly magical’ day of fairytale fun for all the family – and they’ll be able to enjoy it from the comfort of their own homes.

LS Theatre Productions ‘Fairytale Day’ on Sunday, June 28th is being held in support of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, which supports families across South Yorkshire.

Founded by former Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Ackley Bridge star Lee Semley, LS Theatre Productions wanted to put on a show for all the family to enjoy in these challenging times.

“We’ve been keeping our entertainers busy through lockdown and we’ve kept the entertainment flowing, albeit virtually, and we’ve had a fantastic reception,” said Lee, 41, who’s originally from Kendray.

“This time we really wanted to do something for our younger audience, something interactive that the whole family can enjoy together. To make it even more special we decided to host the event in support of a local charity.

“After doing some research and reading about Bluebell Wood’s life-changing work across the region, we knew it was the perfect fit.”

The past few months have been a challenging time for the theatre company, as venues across the UK have had to close their doors.

“The night we were going to open our St Patrick’s Day show at the Lamproom Theatre in Barnsley, we were told we had to close and the lights went out.

“That’s why throughout lockdown, we’ve been doing all we can to lift people’s spirits and maintain our profile.

“So we’re very much looking forward to our Fairytale Day which is going to a truly magical day for all the family.”

The magic will happen from 2pm on Sunday, June 28th and you can watch from the comfort of your home simply by logging onto their facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/lstheatreproductions

As well as all your favourite fairytale characters entertaining the little ones, there will be a family quiz, a Q & A session and much more. There are also rumours that a certain popular superhero could make an appearance, so watch this space!

Sally Baker, Community Fundraising Manager at Bluebell Wood, said:

We’re absolutely delighted that LS Theatre Productions have chosen to support Bluebell Wood.

“It sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic day for all the family, and I think we all need a bit of magic right now!

“Each and every penny we raise will help us support families who are going through the toughest of times across Barnsley and beyond.”
