Trade, Brexit and the Wider World Round Table Discussion

In light of these turbulent times The Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and SYITC are very proud to announce a rare visit from the World Trade Organisation, Trade Policy Group Assistant Director Tom Goodwin up North to Sheffield.

After studying economics at Warwick University and law at Middlesex University Tom Goodwin joined the Economics and Law Faculties at Cambridge University where he taught regulatory economics and published on trust in interfirm contracting. He then joined the British Embassy Tokyo where he led the trade policy team tackling regulatory barriers to trade and multilateral cooperation until 2006. He then moved to the UK Mission in Geneva where, in addition to overall responsibility for the World Trade Organization team he focused on services and intellectual property. In 2013 he returned to London and he is currently based in the Department for International Trade where he is responsible for relations with the WTO. In particular, he is working on the WTO schedules of commitments that will be necessary as the UK leaves the European.
