Triple award success for DBL Logistics

18th February 2014

DBL Logistics has secured a triple national industry award success for excellence.

The family run haulage business won Sales Depot of the Year and Depots' Depot of the Year at the United Pallet Network (UPN) annual member awards at Chesford Grange Hotel, Kenilworth in Warwickshire. UPN's Despots' Depot of the Year accolade is voted for by all members and recognises the best all-around performer from the national network. DBL Logistics has also been awarded Platinum Depot member status with UPN after securing the Gold Depot award for three consecutive years. The standard is given to members who have shown high levels of delivery, customer service, investment and administration on a consistent basis. A founding member of UPN, DBL Logistics recently opened its new £2m Huntsman Depot on Tinsley Park Road in Sheffield. The company warehouses and distributes a range of goods through UPN across the UK and to 26 countries around the world. DBL Logistics, which began life as Yorkshire Distribution Service, was started by husband and wife Bert and Linda Clarkson more than 30 years ago with son David joining in 1987 to complete the company initials. At the end of 2013 Linda passed away suddenly following a short illness. David, managing director of DBL Logistics, said: -The award success is a great result for everyone connected to DBL Logistics and a fitting tribute to Linda. She was an inspirational influence in getting this business to where we are today and establishing the groundwork for an exciting future. -Through our new Sheffield depot we have additional capacity to deliver more consignments in and out of the UPN network on a daily basis. We are already seeing a significant increase in this area compared with the same period a year ago. -It is our intention to make DBL Logistics one of the top three companies in the pallet network sector in the Sheffield City Region. DBL Logistics has seen turnover grow to £3million in the last year and aims to double this by 2018 following the expansion into new premises. UPN, established in 2001, has a national network of more than 70 member depots which collects and delivers freight from across the UK and Europe, before transporting it to a central hub in Staffordshire.
