Tufcot Charity News - Mud Madness Event

1st May 2019

On Saturday the 30th of March, 12 of Tufcots employees took place in a Bluebell Wood sponsored event named 'Mud Madness'.

As Tufcots chosen Charity of the Year, Tufcot employees have pledged to attend and contribute towards as many events as they can throughout the year to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice Charity. Mud Madness was the first of the numerous events planned throughout 2019. The event started at midday, with all participants from Tufcot and other companies, individuals wanting to raise money for the Charity. Everyone was registered and given a purple Bluebell Wood t-shirt to run in. Prior to the run starting, the participants were entertained by a man with a microphone, asking individuals questions. One Tufcot employee planned on completing the 5k run in 15 minutes! The captain of the Sheffield Sharks involved all participants in a gentle warm up in a very confined space and then the race began. From the start there were many tricky obstacles to overcome which included: Snake pit, Everest, Hay bales, a pit full of tyres, a massive lake (most of which were knee or wait high with muddy water or just pure mud!) After 20 or so minutes, one lap was completed, then on reaching the end you were informed you had to go round again to complete the 5k! This meant scaling Everest twice aswell as the many other difficult obstacles. Luckily it was a dry and chilly day which helped, although it was a very tough course. At the end you went over the final inflatable obstacle and through the finish line where you received a glass of water and a chocolate bar. 3 of Tufcot's employees managed to get into the top 4 with our very own machine, Brad, completing the course in 35 minutes! A great effort! It was an excellent day and was extremely well organised by all the volunteers. The main reason for the events is to raise money for the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice who do exceptional work. So far on our official Just Giving page we have raised £475 but there are many more events to come throughout 2019.
