Turning hard drives into cash for Sheffield Young Carers!
23rd November 2012
In September this year, CSI Lifecycle Services held an innovative event to raise money for Chamber Charity of the Year, Sheffield Young Carers.
The 'Data Destruction Open Day' was devised by Chris Walker at CSI. During the event, members of the public were invited to test out the data-shredding capability of their Data Destruction Recycling Vehicle (DDRV). Protecting data at the disposal stage is vital for most businesses and the DDRV can shred hard drives down to fragments of 30mm or 6mm. The metal which was shredded during the event was recycled and the proceeds donated to Sheffield Young Carers. Mike Davies from CSI Lifecycle Services presented Katie Borland from Sheffield Young Carers with a cheque for £387 at the Chamber's recent 'Meet the Neighbours' event. On receiving the cheque, which was designed by young carers, Katie said, 'We are delighted that CSI Lifecycle Services has chosen to support our vital work with young carers inSheffield. At a time of great financial pressure, this generous donation will go a long way toward supporting the incredible young people we help.' 'We are also extremely grateful for the support of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry we're hoping to have a fantastic fundraising year!'
